Payroll Officer

Position Information
Salary: Band 3 commencing from $84,664 per year ( allowances and super)
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: Mildura or Swan Hill

Mandatory Requirements: Driver's Licence. Accounting qualification or equivalent relevant experience in payroll administration.
About the Role
As our Payroll Officer, you will play an important role in delivering accurate, timely and compliant payroll services for more than 200 employees across Lower Murray Water.
Working as part of the Financial Services team, you will maintain payroll records, process payroll-related transactions, respond to employee enquiries and contribute to strong governance and continuous improvement across payroll operations.

What You Will Be Doing
- Processing fortnightly payroll and associated payroll transactions within required timeframes.
- Maintaining accurate employee payroll records and processing payroll variations, deductions, taxation and superannuation obligations.
- Preparing payroll reconciliations, reports and statutory returns to support organisational and regulatory requirements.
- Providing timely payroll advice and customer service to employees, managers and external stakeholders.
- Supporting financial reporting,
audits and compliance with payroll legislation and the Lower Murray Water Enterprise Agreement.
- Identifying opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls and reporting outcomes.
About You
We are looking for someone who brings a combination of skills, experience and a willingness to learn.
You may have
- Qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, or significant equivalent payroll experience.
- Demonstrated experience in payroll administration within a medium to large organisation.
- Sound knowledge of payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation and employment conditions.
- Strong computer literacy, including payroll systems, databases and spreadsheet applications.
