About Erudite Tuition

Erudite Tuition is a private tutoring agency covering Kindergarten to Year 12 across Greater Melbourne. We handle student acquisition, needs assessment, tutor-student matching, scheduling, lesson materials, lesson recording, payments, issue escalation and resolution, and ongoing family communication. This ensures that our tutors can focus on teaching and achieving the best results for our students.

What tutoring at Erudite Tuition is like

You'll deliver structured 1-to-1 lessons (in-person, online, or both) to students in subjects you're confident teaching. Sessions are typically after school or on weekends. You choose your subjects, your hours, and your format. We match you with students near you (for in-person) or anywhere in Victoria (for online). Most tutors work 3–15 hours per week alongside university or other commitments.

Pay structure

In-person lessons start at $42/hr, progressing to $54/hr. Tutors who consistently deliver strong student outcomes can earn up to $80/hr. Online lessons start at $32/hr, progressing to $42/hr. KPI-based bonuses are available on top of base rates. Travel reimbursement is provided for in-person lessons.

What we're looking for

Solid subject knowledge in at least one primary or secondary school subject. Clear communication skills and the ability to work independently. Reliability - students and families depend on consistency. A Working With Children Check for paid work in Victoria (or willingness to obtain one). An ABN (or willingness to obtain one). For in-person work, your own vehicle. No prior tutoring experience required - recent graduates and current university students are encouraged to apply.

Candidates must have completed Year 12 as a minimum education qualification.

Applicants must have Australian work rights to be eligible for this position.

Our Interview process

Every tutor goes through a short online interview and a call with one of our tutor managers. Due to the diversity of students Erudite Tuition supports, we seek tutors from all walks of life and experience. Successful applicants are typically matched with their first student within weeks.
