This is a full-time Procurement Support Officer role, offering the opportunity to make an immediate and sustained contribution within Procurement and Contract Management Team. The Procurement Support Officer position supports the ongoing delivery of procurement outcomes across IP Australia and is suited to candidates who are ready to step into a role with clear accountability, continuity of work, and the ability to learn and make a meaningful impact from the outset.
As the Procurement Officer, you will be working under the direction of the APS 6 Procurement and Contracting Officer. This position is responsible for providing professional and policy advice in relation to procurement and contract management and supporting the establishment of best practice procurement policies and processes.
The key duties of the position include:
In this role as Procurement Officer, responsibilities include:
- manage procurement activities in accordance with Commonwealth Procurement Rules and agency policies
- plan and coordinate procurement processes, including Request for Quotes (RFQs), tenders, market engagement and evaluations
- conduct procurement and contract management activities using Commonwealth procurement arrangements, including Whole of Government Panels
- prepare procurement recommendations and provide procurement and contract management advice
- establish, administer and support contract managers throughout the contract lifecycle, including contract variations
- promote Indigenous procurement outcomes in line with the Indigenous Procurement Policy
- maintain procurement records and reporting requirements, including AusTender reporting
- monitor procurement and contract activities to ensure compliance, governance and value for money outcomes
- undertake procurement administration, including quality assurance, inbox management, and coordination of meetings and forums
- deliver procurement guidance, training materials and stakeholder support
- identify and support implementation of improvements to procurement processes, systems and performance.
Eligibility
Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999,
employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).

The screening check involves reviewing your background & personal circumstances to minimise risks in giving access to IP Australia information/resources. This screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.

Notes
We are looking to fill this position on an ongoing basis.Future positions may be offered on an ongoing or non-ongoing basis subject to operational requirements. Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for a specified term of up to 12 months.
At the end of the recruitment process, a merit pool of suitable candidates may be created. Those found suitable will be advised that they have been placed in the pool. The merit pool is valid for 18 months from the date the process was advertised. The merit pool may be used throughout the period to fill similar positions in the event positions become vacant.
