About the role

Speech Pathology provides advanced support to the delivery of high-quality Allied Health services to paediatric patients/clients across inpatient and outpatient settings within WCHN. The role assists Speech Pathology Professionals with clinical support activities, including communication, feeding and swallowing screening and intervention programs, patient/family education, resource coordination, and participation in the DF Swallow Clinic.

Key duties of the role





- Delivering a range of specialised clinical screenings to facilitate early intervention and access to speech pathology programs, under the direction of the supervising AHP, to patients with complex needs
- Accurately maintain therapy related databases and patient documentation under the explicit direction of the supervising Speech Pathologist
- Participates in workplace health and safety procedures, quality management, quality assurance, risk management activities, and continuous improvement initiatives to support the delivery of safe and effective services
- Contributes to a positive and safe Allied Health workplace culture by demonstrating initiative and supporting effective solutions to workplace issues
- Embraces workplace technologies to support programs and services while facilitating effective communication between Allied Health Assistants and the Speech Pathology Manager

Skills and Experience

- Certificate 4 in Allied Health Assistance, or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience supporting Speech Pathology services, including communication, feeding and swallowing programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of patient confidentiality, ethical practice, and person/family-centred care principles.
- Competent computer skills and experience using clinical systems, databases, and relevant communication technologies.
