Hire A Mover is part of a group that includes Hire A Box, Hire A Packer and Hire Self Storage. We have been operating across Australia for more than 15 years, providing moving, packing, storage and contents handling to homes, businesses and the insurance sector.

We are a hands on, entrepreneurial business with a lean team and a large and growing national footprint.

As we keep growing, we are looking for a Project Manager to run jobs for our commercial clients and keep those relationships strong.

About the role

You will be the point of contact for our clients while their jobs are running. On a project by project basis you keep the client informed and looked after, make sure they are happy with how we are servicing them, and manage our teams so every job gets done professionally.

What this role really is

No two days look the same. Most jobs run to plan, and the ones that do not are where this role earns its money. A property is not ready, an item will not fit through a doorway, a crew is running behind, something gets damaged. You are the person who sorts it, keeps the client confident and keeps the job moving.

It is a busy role with a lot of phone contact and a lot of coordination. You need to be direct, hold your ground with crews and clients when you need to, and stay level when things move around you. People who enjoy solving problems on the spot do very well here. If you would rather a quiet and predictable desk, this is not the one.

What the day to day looks like

- Putting together quotes for your clients.
- Working with the operations team so jobs are delivered efficiently and on time.




- Liaising with operations and our crews out in the field through the life of a job.
- Getting out to site from time to time to meet clients or catch up with our teams.
- Being the point of contact for your clients while their job is running.

There is a fair bit of coordination in this role. On any given day you will have several jobs at different stages, and you will be the person keeping all of them moving and keeping every client in the loop.

The shape of the role will flex around the right person. What does not flex is the standard of delivery and the standard of care our clients get from us.

What matters most

Three things, above everything else.

- Confident and driven. You back yourself, you pick up the phone, and you go after the outcome rather than waiting to be told.
- Very good attention to detail. In this industry the detail is the job. You are the person others rely on to pick up what has been missed.
- Excellent with people. This is the one that matters most. Clients trust you quickly and they stay with you. You are as comfortable talking to a crew on site as you are to the person signing off the job.

Who this role would suit

You do not need to have worked in our industry before. We can teach you how the work runs.



What we cannot teach is how you deal with people and how you hold up when a day goes sideways, and that is the part that matters most.

The people who tend to be good at this already work somewhere busy. You might be a project manager, coordinator, estimator or site supervisor with a builder or restoration company. You might run dispatch or operations for a transport or logistics business. You might be a venue, function or duty manager in hospitality, or run a trade counter or branch, where you deal with people, complaints and last minute changes all day. You might be somewhere else altogether.

If you are organised, sharp on detail and people back you, we want to hear from you. Experience around insurance builders or restoration companies is a bonus, not a requirement.
