PR Co-Ordinator
Reporting to: Communications Manager
Purpose
Under the direction of the Communications Manager, execute PR and media opportunities for the Melbourne Cup Carnival
Internal: Executive team, department heads, managers, Board of Directors, and the broader VRC team.
External: VRC members, customers, clients, suppliers, vendors, and relevant industry networks and associations.
Focus
- Provide support to Communications Manager across all aspects of the Club’s proactive PR strategies as required, including generating publicity for the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
- Media relations including supporting with media events and photoshoots, filming and interview opportunities.
- Liaise with all VRC departments, providing publicity support under direction.
- Draft and distribute media materials under guidance.
- Support with drafting briefing kits for talent and spokespeople.
- Assist with media accreditation, including coordinating applications, managing accreditation lists, preparing and distributing media passes, and supporting media accreditation requirements on race days.
- Monitor media and circulate relevant material internally as instructed.
- Administration, including budgeting, reporting and processing invoices.
- Media reporting post events/race days.
Success Measures (KPIs)
- Delivers PR tasks on time, contributing to successful campaigns and event publicity.
- Supports media activities smoothly, with well-coordinated events, interviews, and photoshoots.
- Produces clear, accurate media materials and briefing documents with minimal revisions.
- Builds positive working relationships with media and internal stakeholders.
- Provides timely and accurate media monitoring and post-event reports.
- Completes administrative tasks (budget tracking, invoices, reporting) accurately and on time.

- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work in a fast pace and high pressure setting.
- Sound working knowledge of computer programs including MS Office Suite.
- Required to present ideas and be able to report using VRC guidelines.
- Weekend work required.
