Enquiries/applications will not be accepted via recruitment agencies About The Opportunity South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified Old Age Consultant Psychiatrists to work as a Relieving Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) within the Older People's Mental Health Services.

This is a temporary quinquennial contract opportunity, offering exposure across a dynamic and multidisciplinary service offering psychiatric care to older persons in both community and inpatient settings within SWSLHD, covering periods of planned and unplanned leave for existing VMOs. What You'll Be Doing Provide clinical management and treatment of patients in a SWSLHD facility under your care.

This care will be provided within the clinical privileges granted by the Chief Executive (CE) on the advice of the SWSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC).

Current medical practitioner, registered, or eligible for registration, with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellow of the Royal Australian and Current Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) and/or other specialist recognition as provided under the Health Insurance Act 1973 and Certificate of Advanced Training in Old Age Psychiatry (RANZCP).

Demonstrated current clinical practice of a high standard and ability to adapt clinical practice in accordance with contemporary evidence based best practice

Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management

Demonstrated participation in teaching and training at undergraduate and/or post graduate level, including supervision of junior medical staff

Demonstrated commitment to continuing self-education and development, including evidence of participation in continuing medical education/ continuing professional development

Demonstrated ability to comply with the service objectives of a public health organisation, including the provision of services to the local community, effective utilisation of resources, and preparedness to participate in the provision of health services at an LHD level





Preparedness to participate in a hospital, service or LHD on-call roster

Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with other staff and practitioners and in a multidisciplinary health care team. Need more information?
