This is a casual role for a Rail Corridor Protection Officer (RCPO) to work in the rail industry, within the Queensland Rail network. As a Rail Corridor Protection Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of track workers outside of the danger zone in the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane QLD areas. The role involves working on-site at various rail locations and requires being able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
Candidates must be available for all shifts including nights and weekends as required. Some domestic travel may also be required.
What you'll be doing
1. Providing track protection services to maintain safe working conditions for rail workers outside of the danger zone
2. Monitoring and controlling access to the rail corridor to prevent unauthorised entry
3. Communicating with rail traffic controllers to coordinate safe passage of trains
4. Operating track protection equipment such as flags and other signalling devices
5. Responding to and reporting on any safety incidents or emergencies
6. Completing detailed records and documentation related to track protection activities
7. Opportunity to progress to Protection Officer level with successful completion of Qld Rail psychometric testing
What we're looking for
1. Entry level and experienced positions available.
2. Strong understanding of or ability to acquire rail safety regulations and track protection procedures.
3.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with rail workers and traffic controllers.
4. Ability to work independently and make quick decisions in a dynamic, safety-critical environment.
5. Physically fit and able to perform physical work in an outdoor environment. Applicants will be required to undertake a CAT 1 Rail Industry Medical Exam including drug and alcohol testing.
6. Valid car licence (C class) required.
7. Construction Induction Card (White card) or willingness to obtain.
8. Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents.
