About the role
Part time position - 15 hours per week
The Drug and Alcohol Counsellor provides; counselling and psychosocial group work to individuals on community supervision orders within Corrections’ offices, who are also affected by substance use and other related concerns such as mental health.
Client Therapy and Support:
providingcounselling that utilises evidence-based therapeutic modalities for the achievement of client identified goals
providing harm reduction and other health promotion services
utilising alcohol and drug and mental health assessments
ensuring client data is entered to a high standard
facilitating and/or co-facilitating psychosocial education and support groups
What we're looking for
Someone who is passionate about their work and the health outcomes of both clients and the broader community and can demonstrate:
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Tertiary qualification (e.g. Cert IV or above) in a relevant field
- Ability to engage clients on community supervision orders (Parole and Probation)
- Ability to achieve a successful Criminal History Check + Admin Form 27A (Application to Visit) - as required by Queensland Corrective Services
- Intermediate competency in the use of Microsoft and other software packages
- Current Queensland driver's license (or equivalent)
