About the role

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Workers to join our team in Newcastle NSW and Lake Macquarie. This is a casual position that offers flexibility whilst enabling you to make a genuine impact in the lives of people living with disabilities. As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing personalised support to individuals, helping them achieve their goals and participate fully in their communities. Your work will be essential to fostering independence, dignity and quality of life for those we support.

What you'll be doing

- Providing direct personal support and assistance with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation and household tasks
- Supporting individuals to access community activities, social events and recreational opportunities
- Assisting with transportation to appointments, shopping and other community engagements
- Building positive relationships based on trust, respect and understanding of individual needs and preferences
- Promoting independence and encouraging individuals to develop their skills and capabilities
- Maintaining accurate and timely documentation and reporting on support provided




- Communicating effectively with individuals, their families, carers and other team members
- Supporting individuals with managing their health and wellbeing needs
- Adhering to duty of care responsibilities and maintaining a protected, clean and supportive environment
- Responding compassionately to changing needs and circumstances

What we're looking for

- A genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities and a commitment to person-centred care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships
- Physical capability to assist with personal care and mobility support where required
- Reliability, punctuality and the ability to work flexibly with a casual schedule
- A non-judgemental, patient and empathetic approach
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to respond calmly to challenging situations
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and respecting individual privacy
- Willingness to obtain or maintain relevant certifications such as First Aid or Disability Support qualifications
- Working With Children Check (WWCC) NDIS Worker Check clearance or willingness to obtain
- A valid National Criminal History Clearance
