Expression of Interest | Physiotherapists | Toowoomba

The Veteran Health Association (VHA) is preparing to establish its Veterans' Better Life Program in Toowoomba, with anticipated commencement in early 2027, and is inviting expressions of interest from physiotherapists who may be interested in future opportunities within a multidisciplinary veteran-focused service.

This may suit physiotherapists who value strong clinical reasoning, high-quality rehabilitation and collaborative, client-centred care. The program supports veterans with pain and injury management, movement-based care, functional recovery, confidence and quality of life as part of a coordinated model.

This is an Expression of Interest only and not an immediate vacancy. The purpose is to connect early with clinicians who may be interested in future opportunities should the Toowoomba service proceed.

We would be pleased to hear from physiotherapists who have experience or interest in:

• musculoskeletal physiotherapy and injury rehabilitation

• pain management, functional recovery and movement-based care

• working with complex or persistent presentations

• integrated multidisciplinary practice and veteran-centred care

Depending on the final service model, future opportunities may include part-time, sessional, contractor or employee arrangements.

ABOUT VHA

We’re an organisation that’s dedicated to improving the physical and mental health of veterans.

We provide health care services through our Veterans’ Better Life Program; a program we created back in 2015 because we saw a gap in traditional veteran health care. Veterans were typically treated in silos that didn’t address known barriers to getting help.

We saw an opportunity to do things differently, to do things better. We created an integrated multidisciplinary program that’s tailored and treats each person as a whole.





Our successful program has become a leading front-line service for veterans. It’s now available at multiple locations on the Gold Coast, Brisbane, and Tweed Shire. We’re also expanding to new locations.

MORE ABOUT THE ROLE (the technical stuff)

To qualify for the role, you need to have:

- tertiary qualification in physiotherapy

- AHPRA registration

- strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Ideally, you’ll also have:

- experience in:

- injury management

- developing, implementing, and evaluating strength and conditioning programs

- an interest or background in health and fitness

We say ideally because it would be outstanding if you had some experience, but it’s not essential. We’ll provide you with training and support. Graduates and experienced physiotherapists alike are encouraged you to submit an expression of interest!

Key things you’ll need to do in the role:

- Work well within a multidisciplinary team.

- Effectively communicate with our veteran clients.

- Identify client-orientated goals and formulate treatment plans.

- Assess, diagnose, and treat musculoskeletal presentations.

- Provide advice and education around symptom management and health promoting behaviours.

- Conduct in-vivo screening and risk assessments.

- Maintain industry compliant records and reports.
