The Opportunity Qube

Bulk are seeking an experienced Safety & Training Superintendent to join the Thunderbox operations team in the Northern Goldfields region to provide Health, Safety & Training leadership on safety culture, compliance and standards across all site operations. The Safety & Training Superintendent position will provide SHS support & leadership across all site operations to ensure that health & safety compliance, legislation and regulatory requirements are met. Permanent, full-time position

Based at Thunderbox mine site – FIFO from Perth only 8-on/6-off – 4-on/3-off roster rotation

Commitment to a “QuBe Secure” workplace Specific Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive risk assessments of the scope of operations, including mining operations, working environment, current work practices and procedures

Develop and/or review the site induction with the respect to both Qube and operational requirements

Training and assessing of various mobile plant and equipment





Assist with the coordination of all functional safety issues including risk assessments, systems development and the maintenance of relevant records and reports

Undertake audits to verify compliance with legislation and regulatory requirements, client requirements and company procedures

Lead/participate in incident investigation processes & implement improvement plans where any gaps are identified

Ensure corrective and preventative actions are identified and monitored for closure within allocated timeframe

Provide immediate support for incident investigations, hazard management and follow-up on closeout actions

Follow the requirements of the SHEMS documentation including Rules, Procedures and Instructions

Drive culture change from the ground up on operating standards, risk awareness and safety culture

Assist in the management of Workers Compensation claims and Rehabilitation Plans/Programs

Develop and implement site training plans, skills matrices and budgets;

Schedule, develop and deliver training and assessment programs in consultation with Operations and Labour Managers

Coordinate necessary training resources at sites

Conduct drug and alcohol testing Qualifications And Experience To be successful in this role, it is essential that candidates have:



Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position within the mining or heavy transport industry

Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety or equivalent Certificate IV in Training & Assessment Lead ICAM Investigations Certification or similar Current First Aid/CPR Certification

Current C Class Drivers Licence (minimum) Competency in HSE Statistics, reporting and ability to analyse HSE data for trends and improvements

Experience delivering relevant and engaging training to a diverse range of students

Ability to undertake large scale risk assessments

Ability to develop tactical and strategic plans to address safety issues. Qualified in collecting specimens for drugs of abuse testing (HLTPAT005) – highly regarded Ability to be flexible & adaptable to work in a demanding environment

Ability to work well in a team environment as well as be able to work independently

Strong interpersonal skills & ability to communicate with a variety of people

Advanced knowledge & experience with Microsoft applications

Proven ability to pick up internal systems (IT) quickly

Ability to provide a National Police Clearance
