At Leidos Gibbs & Cox Australia, we provide world‑leading naval and marine engineering expertise in support of Australia's maritime enterprise.



Through our highly skilled team of naval architects, engineers and maritime specialists, we support major Australian naval programs and emerging maritime technologies across ship design, engineering, systems integration, acquisition and sustainment.

Leveraging nearly a century of naval design excellence and access to Gibbs & Cox's global network of specialists, we help deliver complex maritime projects that strengthen Australia's sovereign shipbuilding, naval design and maritime capability.

The Opportunity

As a Junior Naval Architect, you will contribute to a critical marine design project, applying your skills and developing your expertise as part of the Gibbs & Cox team while delivering outcomes that matter.

Key Responsibilities Include

- Assist with the design and analysis of marine vessels and structures, including stability assessments and technical calculations.
- Develop and maintain 3D models and engineering drawings using software such as Rhino, AutoCAD and Maxsurf.
- Support the naval architecture team by preparing technical reports, design documentation and project deliverables.
- Assist with requirements development, specification writing and systems engineering activities, including the refinement and traceability of design requirements.

About You

We are looking for someone who brings judgement,



curiosity and a team-oriented approach to work that matters.

Essential For This Role

- 1 – 3 years of Naval Architecture experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Stability analysis skills (including Maxsurf suite)
- Rhino modelling
- AutoCAD drawing skills

Advantageous, But Not Essential

- Interest in and talent for developing a CFD capability an advantage
- Other engineering skills

This role requires the successful applicant to be an Australian citizen and hold, or be eligible to obtain a NV1 security clearance.
