About the Opportunity An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Teacher Librarian to lead the newly established Secondary Library at William Clarke College. This is a Level 1 leadership position responsible for leading library services, programs and operations within our Secondary School. The successful applicant will lead a dedicated team of Library Assistants and a Teacher Librarian while partnering closely with teachers and leaders to strengthen teaching, learning, research and information literacy across Years 7-12.
Located within the College's newly opened Bryson Building, our Secondary Library provides a contemporary, purpose-built environment designed to support collaboration, inquiry, independent learning and a love of reading. More than managing an established service, this role offers the opportunity to shape the vision, culture and future direction of a newly created library team. Working alongside the Primary Library Co-ordinator, you will help establish best practice, develop innovative programs and ensure an exceptional library experience for students and staff.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a capable library leader seeking to make a significant impact within a thriving and growing Christian school. This is a full-time permanent leadership position and a Level 1 Leadership Allowance applies.
About You
You are an experienced Teacher Librarian who combines educational expertise with strong leadership capability. You are energised by the opportunity to build culture, lead people and create library services that make a meaningful contribution to student learning outcomes.
You will bring
- NESA Teacher accreditation and postgraduate qualifications in teacher librarianship (or equivalent).
- Demonstrated success leading library services and teams in a school or similar environment, including the ability to coach, develop and inspire staff.
- Robust understanding of how school libraries strengthen teaching and learning, with experience designing and delivering library-based learning experiences aligned with NSW curriculum requirements.
- Proven ability to collaborate with teachers and leaders to develop inquiry, information literacy and research skills in students.
- Experience developing and managing contemporary library collections, digital resources and library management systems to support curriculum and student needs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of academic integrity, copyright and information management practices within an educational setting.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- A valid Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain one).
- Regular practicing member of a Christian church.
