As we continue to grow, we are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join our team on a casual or part-time basis. This is a broad, client-facing role suited to an experienced book-keeping professional who takes responsibility for their work, where accuracy, attention to detail, quality and efficiency are key, and thrives in a dynamic, collaborative environment

This is an in-house, on-site role offering 25 to 30 hours per week, with flexible scheduling — preferably Monday to Thursday initially, with the potential for additional hours as the practice continues to expand.

The successful candidate will work with the team and contribute across a wide range of client engagements — from book-keeping tasks, tax and industry compliances and financial reporting through to business advisory and cloud accounting support.

The hourly rate will be based on your qualifications and experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Providing comprehensive bookkeeping services across a diverse portfolio of clients, including individuals, small businesses, partnerships, trusts, companies and organisations
- Data entry, reconciliation of client accounts, including invoicing, bill payments,



journals, and maintaining accurate, up-to-date client financial records
- Managing general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and end-of-period processes
- Preparing Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS)
- Payroll processing and Single Touch Payroll (STP) compliance, including meeting PAYG Withholding and superannuation obligations, Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting, and leave management
- Preparing financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow summaries
- Preparation of management reports, including monthly and quarterly management accounts, variance analysis, and performance commentary for clients
- Preparation of Taxable Payment Reporting (TPAR), including identifying and reporting relevant clients payments made to contractors and sub-contractors in the ATO’s specified industries,
- Preparation of other government and industry reporting, including State Payroll Tax, State Workers Compensation, and Building Industry Authority to meet licensing requirements
- Cloud accounting platform setup, implementation, and ongoing training for clients (such as Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks Online and similar) — including chart of accounts design, bank feed configuration, payroll setup, and reconciliation workflows
- Providing training and support to clients and our internal team on bookkeeping systems and processes as required
- Liaising with clients in a professional, friendly, and responsive manner
- Collaborating with team to support tax preparation and compliance activities
- Assisting with the setup and restructure of client bookkeeping systems as the practice grows
- Maintaining confidentiality and the highest standards of accuracy and professionalism at all times

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

- Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience in bookkeeping and accounts role, ideally within a public practice or multi-client environment
- Relevant training qualifications in bookkeeping such as Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or Accounting (or equivalent); and




- Professional Memberships to support continuous Professional Development and keep up-to-date with changing tax regulations through Industry associations such as the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB), Australian Bookkeepers Network / Association (ABN/ABA) or similar is advantageous
- Sound understanding of Australian bookkeeping standards and ATO law and compliance requirements
- Demonstrated proficiency and solid working experience with cloud accounting platforms — Quickbooks (QBO), XERO, MYOB and Reckon experience is highly regarded
- Strong knowledge and experience of BAS/GST preparation, payroll processing, STP, and superannuation and other tax obligations
- Experience managing or reviewing bookkeeping clients, staff, bookkeeping workflows, and client self-managed accounts, with the ability to identify and correct errors or inefficiencies
- Demonstrated experience managing direct client relationships — communicating accounting and tax concepts in plain language, attending client meetings, and responding to ATO correspondence
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail with strong organisational and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills — written and verbal
- A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to manage competing priorities and work both independently and as part of a team
- Discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive and confidential financial information
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Word
