UCentric is partnering with a global cloud and technology consulting organisation to appoint a Senior Database Modernisation Architect/Consultant.

This is a senior consulting opportunity for an experienced cloud professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and helping enterprise customers modernise critical database platforms.

Working across large-scale cloud transformation programs, you'll partner directly with customers to design, architect and deliver modern database solutions while providing trusted technical guidance throughout their cloud adoption journey. This role combines deep technical expertise with strong consulting and stakeholder management skills, making it ideal for someone who enjoys influencing technical strategy while remaining hands-on with solution delivery.

About the role:

You will work closely with enterprise customers to assess existing database environments, design contemporary cloud architectures and lead the successful migration and modernisation of critical workloads.

As a trusted technical advisor, you'll collaborate with architects, engineering teams and business stakeholders to develop scalable, secure and high-performing cloud solutions while ensuring projects are delivered using industry best practices.

Beyond project delivery, you'll contribute to technical leadership by mentoring colleagues, sharing knowledge and helping develop reusable frameworks that improve delivery across future engagements.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design and deliver scalable cloud solutions that support database modernisation initiatives.




- Lead customer engagements from solution design through implementation and successful delivery.
- Assess existing environments and develop migration and modernisation strategies.
- Provide technical leadership throughout cloud transformation projects.
- Architect secure, resilient and high-performing cloud solutions aligned to customer objectives.
- Collaborate with customer stakeholders, architects and engineering teams throughout project delivery.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and optimise cloud environments for performance and reliability.
- Act as a trusted advisor on cloud architecture, emerging technologies and modern engineering practices.
- Mentor consultants and contribute to technical capability development across the consulting practice.
- Develop reusable technical assets, frameworks and delivery best practices.

Key Qualifications:

- 7+ years' experience delivering enterprise technology consulting or cloud transformation projects.
- Strong experience designing and implementing cloud-based solutions.
- Deep knowledge of database technologies, including SQL and NoSQL platforms.
- Experience with distributed data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka or similar technologies.
- Strong cloud architecture experience, ideally across AWS environments.
- Experience designing and delivering migration and modernisation programs.
- Strong stakeholder management and customer consulting skills.




- Experience working across complex enterprise environments.
- Excellent communication, presentation and technical advisory capabilities.

Highly Regarded

- AWS Professional or Associate Certification.
- Hands-on experience across core AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, VPC and CloudFormation.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation.
- Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python, Java, Bash, PowerShell or similar.
- Experience delivering serverless or distributed cloud architectures.

Ideal backgrounds: Relevant backgrounds may include Cloud Consulting, Cloud Architecture, Database Engineering, Infrastructure Consulting, Platform Engineering, Cloud Migration or Enterprise Solutions Architecture.
