About the Company

Our client is a global renewable energy business with a growing presence in the Australian market.

The organisation is actively involved in large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects and continues to expand its renewable energy operations and project portfolio.

About the Role An prospect is available for an experienced Senior Financial / Project Accountant to join a lean Melbourne finance team and work closely with the Financial Controller.

The position combines core financial accounting with project-related reporting and is open to candidates from either a Senior / Financial Accountant background or a Project Accountant background.

This is initially a 6-12 month contract working full-time hours, with the opportunity to transition into a permanent position.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

- Support month-end close and prepare accurate financial reporting for the Financial Controller.

- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, journals and supporting month-end schedules.

- Assist with BAS preparation and routine finance compliance requirements.

- Support the preparation of financial reports and management reporting.

- Investigate accounting discrepancies and ensure financial records are complete and accurate.

Project Accounting

- Provide finance support across renewable energy and other project-based activities.

- Maintain accurate project financial records, reconciliations and reporting schedules.

- Work with project and operational stakeholders to ensure financial information is captured correctly.

- Support project-related reporting and financial analysis for the Financial Controller.

- Assist with finance requirements across different stages of project delivery.

Finance Operations & Controls

- Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation in SAP.





- Assist with audit queries, financial controls and ad hoc reporting requirements.

- Support the Financial Controller across day-to-day finance priorities.

- Review finance data and identify inconsistencies requiring investigation.

- Contribute to improvements in finance processes, reporting and data quality.

Stakeholder Support

- Work closely with the Financial Controller and Finance Assistant within a lean finance function.

- Partner with project teams and internal stakeholders to resolve accounting and reporting matters.

- Provide timely and practical finance support to the broader business.

- Assist with ad hoc finance projects and business requirements during the contract period.

Skills & Experience

- Currently operating at Senior Accountant, Financial Accountant or Project Accountant level.

- Strong hands-on experience with month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations and financial reporting.

- Experience preparing BAS and supporting routine finance compliance activities.

- Project accounting or project-based industry exposure within property, infrastructure, renewable energy or a comparable environment would be highly regarded.

- Strong SAP experience and confidence working with financial data and reporting systems.

- Ability to work independently and support a Financial Controller within a lean finance team.

- Strong attention to detail, communication and stakeholder management skills.

- Mandarin language skills would be advantageous but are not essential.
