About the Role

As a Senior Inspector Compliance with NSW Resources, you will play a key role in supporting protected, responsible and sustainable mining practices across the unique opal mining regions of Lightning Ridge and White Cliffs. As an authorised Inspector under the Mining Act 1992, you will undertake inspections, investigations and enforcement activities that help maintain confidence in the sector while protecting communities, the environment and supporting the long-term future of mining in NSW.

Working across field and office environments, you will investigate potential breaches of legislation, conduct interviews with claim holders,



manage compliance matters and prepare reports that support regulatory and enforcement outcomes. You will undertake inspections relating to Mineral Claims and Opal Prospecting Licences, assess applications for restricted mining activities, respond to stakeholder enquiries and complaints, and work closely with Mine Safety Officers on compliance and safety initiatives. With two exciting opportunities available, one temporary role up until 1/07/2028 and another temporary role for up to three years, both with the possibility of extension, this is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact while building strong connections with industry, government and regional communities.
