We are hunting for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join a small Machine Learning Engineer and AI team within and Insurance company that work end to end. You will bring qualified experience scaling and deploying robust production code and data pipelines. This team works end to end on impactful ML, Data and AI solutions that are used by all teams and may also positively impact customers.

What tools do they use and would be useful to have experience with? The core cloud and ML platform is Microsoft Azure and Azure ML, but we are open to strong Senior MLEs who may have worked in Databricks, GCP + Vertex AI or AWS + Sagemaker also. We would expect you have strong skills using Python, Python ML libraries, SQL, Spark, Kubernetes or Kubeflow, dbt for data transformation and modelling. In terms of AI tools - you have the full range of Claude, Microsoft Copilot and Github copilot to enable you to be more productive and are actively encouraged to recommend new and better processes and tools.

What will be the main focus of this role?

- Unlike some MLE jobs, this role is focussed on end-to-end build of impactful machine learning and AI solutions.



This means translating stakeholder problems into ML solutions using pragmatic and innovative techniques, and systems - end to end from idea to POC to deploying production grade solutions that don't fall apart!
- You are not just focussed on Data Pipelines, ML Ops or ML Platform infrastructure work.
- Automate or improve existing code, data science work, testing, model validation, optimisation, difficulties with scalability or speed up run-times

What skills and experience do you need to apply?!

- A minimum of 5 years of professional corporate experience in Machine Learning Engineering or a similar Production ML role, excluding academic and research experience.
- A Computer Science, Engineering or Data Science adjacent degree
- Strong hands-on machine learning experience across all phases of building and maintaining solutions
- Good communication skills and confidence in sharing and presenting ideas with business stakeholders, IT, engineering and analytics peers
- Must have full Australian work rights
- Must be OK with hybrid work - 3 days in Sydney office

Salary Range: $155K - $170K + Super + bonus
