The Role:

We are seeking casual Barrier Attendants to work casually at race meetings and trials across Tasmania.

- Shifts available at Hobart, Longford, Launceston, and Devonport

- Trials are generally held on Monday or Tuesday beginning at 10:30am (minimum shift is 4 hours pay)

- Race meetings are generally held on Wednesday and Friday nights from 5:30pm to 10:00pm and Sunday from 11:00am to 5:30pm

Key Responsibilities:

- Handle and load horses into the barriers

- Provide vital support for the jockeys and horses in and behind the barriers.





- Check that horses are wearing approved equipment and refit any damaged equipment.

- Communicate with the starter to ensure all horses are ready and able to be released for a fair start to the race each time.

- Adhere to Health & Safety procedures including wearing the applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and uniform at all times

About you:

- Reliable and hard-working approach

- Excellent communication skills

- Previous experience working with horses

- Current driver’s license

- Enjoy working as part of a team
