VLA Productions

New South Wales

$40–$55 per hour + super
Full time & part-time opportunities | Botany, Sydney

VLA Productions is looking for Audio, Lighting and Vision people to join our growing technical team in Sydney.

The work is a mix of concerts, festivals, venue shows, corporate events and other live productions, covering everything from warehouse prep and load-ins through to show calls and load-outs.

Whether you specialise in one department or work across a few, we’d like to hear from you.

These aren’t entry-level roles, but you don’t need decades in the industry either. If you’ve already built a solid foundation working on professional live shows and want to keep developing your technical experience, you could be a good fit.

Audio, Lighting & Vision Technicians

Audio

Our Audio work covers system prep and deployment, tuning and optimisation, FOH and monitors, patch, RF and system tech, depending on the job and your experience.

We run L-Acoustics, Nexo and Funktion-One, with consoles including DiGiCo, Allen & Heath and Avid.

We're interested in people with hands‑on professional live-audio experience. You don't need to have used every brand we own, but you should be comfortable working with professional systems in live‑event environments.

Lighting

Lighting work covers prep, rigging and deployment, networking and data, moving lights, system maintenance and fault finding, operation and programming.

We run grandMA along with fixtures from Robe, Clay Paky, Martin and Chauvet.

We're looking for people who understand qualified live‑event lighting systems and can work confidently and safely as part of a production crew.

Vision

Vision covers LED walls, playback, media servers, live video switching, signal distribution and other live‑video systems.

We use ROE LED products and Resolume, with opportunities across LED, playback, switching and other areas of live‑event video.

If your experience is strongest in one part of Vision rather than across everything, that's fine. We're interested in what you already know and where you'd like to develop.

Work across a few departments?

We'd like to hear from you too.

Valuable all-round production techs who can work confidently across different parts of a show are a valuable part of the team.

You don't need to know everything or be an expert in every discipline. A strong foundation in one area combined with useful experience across others can be a great fit.

Who we're after

We're looking for people who already know their way around a live show.

You’ll need some hands‑on experience with professional live‑production equipment and enough time on live shows to be comfortable working on site, following production processes and contributing as part of a crew.

For Audio and Lighting positions, we’re generally looking for around 1–2+ years of professional live‑production experience, although we’ll consider your overall experience and capability rather than judging you purely on years in the industry.

For Vision and multi‑discipline roles, we’re interested in people with a solid practical foundation and relevant live‑event experience.

Ideally,

you’ll bring:

- solid skills in at least one of Audio, Lighting or Vision
- hands‑on experience with professional live‑event equipment
- a practical approach to fault finding and problem solving
- good communication on site
- the ability to work well as part of a crew
- a professional and reliable approach when you’re on a job
- flexibility to work the hours that come with live events, including nights and weekends.

These are professional live‑event production roles, so we’re looking for hands‑on live‑production experience rather than solely broadcast or studio‑based experience.

The deal

$40–$55 per hour + super, depending on experience.

We’re recruiting for full‑time and part‑time positions based from our Botany warehouse.

The job includes warehouse prep and work at venues and event sites around Sydney and NSW.

There’ll be nights and weekends — it’s live production — and the exact mix will depend on the shows and projects you’re working on.

You’ll get to work across different productions, venues and systems, with opportunities to build your technical experience, undertake further training and take on more responsibility as you develop.
