Job Description

Smart Path Advisors is seeking a passionate Year 11 & 12 English Tutor to support senior students undertaking SACE English, Literary Studies, and Essential English. This role focuses on delivering structured, curriculum-aligned tutoring that develops analytical writing, critical thinking, and exam confidence.

The successful candidate will guide students through essay writing, text analysis, comparative responses, and creative tasks, helping them meet SACE performance standards. You will support students with school assessments, folios, and external examinations while providing explicit, teacher-quality feedback on drafts and ideas.

Experience supporting students undertaking Flinders University Extension Studies will be highly regarded, particularly in Women’s Studies and Theology.

The successful candidate must also be willing and able to travel to students’ homes to deliver tutoring sessions when required.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver targeted tutoring aligned with SACE Stage 1 & Stage 2 English

- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of SACE curriculum requirements and assessment standards

- Teach essay structure, textual analysis, comparative writing, and creative responses

- Support students with folios, assignments, and exam preparation





- Provide detailed feedback using SACE assessment criteria

- Build students’ critical thinking, vocabulary, and argument development

- Adapt lessons to individual learning needs and goals

- Support students undertaking Flinders University Extension Studies, particularly Women’s Studies and Theology, where required

- Travel to students’ homes to deliver one-on-one tutoring sessions when required

- Maintain brief lesson records and communicate with parents and the academic team

Qualifications and Experience

- Hold a recognised teaching degree qualification

- Possess a minimum of 3–5 years of teaching or tutoring experience in English education

- Experience supporting Flinders University Extension Studies, particularly Women’s Studies and Theology, will be highly regarded

- Hold a current valid driver’s licence

- Have reliable access to a suitable vehicle and be willing to travel to students’ homes across metropolitan Adelaide

This role is ideal for an experienced English teacher or skilled educator who enjoys mentoring senior students and helping them achieve high-quality academic writing and strong examination results.
