Head of Accounts - Build & Transform the Finance Function

When you walk into a business, you naturally start seeing opportunities. Processes that could be improved, better ways of reporting, smarter systems and automation that could save hours.

You’re commercially minded and tech savvy. You genuinely love the role a great Accounts function plays in the success of a business. You know that when finance is done well it drives better decisions, improves cashflow, strengthens operations and helps a business grow. You provide helpful and insightful reporting for the management team and always use data to make decisions and better the company.

You’re incredibly diligent & organised. You’re a master of timelines/schedules and you don’t leave things to the last minute. You're methodical and people know that if you've said something will be done, it will be done.

You’re also a great leader and your teams have always respected you & enjoyed working with you. You believe in setting a good example/leading from the front and will pick up the proverbial broom and “sweep” alongside your staff. You’re not too positive for the more menial tasks and are always happy to jump in and pick up the phone whenever needed. You just do what it takes to get the jobs done.

This role is Head of Accounts with a rapidly growing Australian business based in Penrith.

The business has doubled in size over the past few years, and with that growth has come growing pains. The finance function has become the bottleneck,



and the owners are looking for someone who genuinely wants to take ownership, build a stronger team and create a finance department that can support the next stage of growth.

This is the type of role where in 18 months you’ll look back and be able to say “Look how far we’ve come and what a difference!”. It’s a role where you can make a huge impact to a team, a finance function and a business overall.

You’ll report directly to the 2 Owners. They want your ideas and your improvements - they're agile & willing to invest in what is needed to improve the business. If you can demonstrate the value- they’ll back you all the way.

It isn’t a role for the faint hearted though - you’ll need to be resilient (you might come in with a plan for the day and it’s out the window by 11am), you’ll need to be a strong leader who creates cohesion and focus in a team and you’ll need to be the type who can embrace change and ride the wave of chaos that comes with it.

They’re moving from MYOB to an ERP so you'll need strong ERP experience, advanced Excel skills and a genuine passion for improving systems and processes.

The role is based in Penrith with flexible start and finish times in the office 5 days a week, annual salary reviews and performance bonuses.
