About this Role
A Permanent Part Time position (0.7 FTE) Reporting to the CSSD Manager, the Sterilisation Technician is responsible for performing equipment sterilisation duties in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, ensuring safety and efficiency. This role involves the processing, decontamination, cleaning, and sterilisation of reusable medical devices, while ensuring compliance with relevant standards such as AS/NZS 5369:2023 and manufacturer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out the decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilisation of reusable medical devices and supplies as per established standards and manufacturer guidelines.
- Maintain, process, and distribute sterilised medical devices to Operating Theatres, wards, and external customer rooms as required.
- Perform sterility testing of equipment and monitor sterilisation processes, ensuring compliance with relevant procedures. Conduct testing of sterilising machines and document results accurately.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of the decontamination and sterilisation processes, reporting any issues or deficiencies to the CSSD Manager
- Follow and enforce strict safety procedures in the handling of sterilisation equipment, ensuring optimal standards for surgical sterilisation and cleanliness are met.
- Perform routine environmental cleaning to ensure that workspaces and equipment meet the required hygiene standards
About You
It is expected that you will possess a Certificate III in Sterilisation
