The Client:

Our client is a well-established North Queensland organisation operating across Queensland and the Northern Territory within an essential services industry. Supporting a large and diverse workforce, they play a vital role in keeping communities and operations running smoothly. Due to increased workload, an excellent temporary opportunity has become available for an experienced Payroll Officer to join their team.

The Opportunity:

This hands-on Payroll Officer position will see you managing payroll activities across a varied workforce, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time. Working within the HR3 payroll system, you’ll be responsible for supporting weekly and fortnightly payroll cycles while providing professional assistance to employees and stakeholders on payroll-related matters.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Processing weekly and fortnightly payrolls, ensuring all payroll transactions are completed accurately and within required timeframes
- Reviewing and entering timesheets, leave applications, allowances and payroll adjustments while maintaining strict attention to detail
- Performing payroll reconciliations and supporting compliance with payroll reporting obligations and legislative requirements
- Managing superannuation processing, STP submissions, payroll tax and associated payroll administration activities
- Responding to payroll enquiries from employees and managers, providing clear, professional and timely support
- Setting up new employees within the payroll system and maintaining accurate payroll records and employee data
- Assisting with end-of-year payroll activities, reporting requirements and continuous improvement of payroll processes
- Utilising the HR3 payroll system to support efficient, accurate and compliant payroll operations

You will ideally bring:

- Demonstrated experience in end-to-end payroll processing across weekly and/or fortnightly payroll cycles
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation, awards, entitlements, taxation, superannuation and compliance requirements
- Experience working with varied employee arrangements, allowances, leave accruals and payroll complexities
- High-level attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve payroll issues efficiently
- Robust problem-solving skills and the ability to manage confidential payroll information with discretion
- Confidence using payroll systems and Microsoft Excel to process, reconcile and report on payroll data
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to support employees, managers and key stakeholders professionally
- Experience using HR3 will be highly regarded, although candidates with strong payroll backgrounds and the ability to learn new systems quickly are encouraged to apply
