Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club (RFBYC) is one of Australia’s premier yacht clubs, offering world-class sailing, power boating, training, and social facilities on the Swan River. Our Bosun’s team plays a vital role in keeping our fleet, marina, club house and grounds running smoothly, supporting racing and recreational activities, and delivering exceptional service to our members.

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive, hands-on, and energetic Bosun’s Team Member to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will be responsible for vessel and facilities maintenance, sailing support, and assisting Club members.

Key Responsibilities

- Vessel Operation and Maintenance: Safely operate, clean, and assist in maintaining the Club's fleet of safety boats.
- Member Support: Provide courteous and professional assistance to members.
- Event and Regatta Support: Assist with on water safety cover, setup/pack-down for Club racing, regattas, and special events.
- Facility Operations: Assist with safety checks, preventative maintenance and reactive repairs.
- Workfront Safety and Housekeeping: Ensure all tools, equipment, and work areas are kept safe, tidy, and compliant with health, safety, and environmental standards.

Requirements and Qualifications





Essential:

- Boat Handling Experience: Demonstrated experience operating small to medium powerboats safely in varied conditions.
- Certifications: Current Recreational Skipper’s Ticket (RST) (or higher) and a valid First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Availability: Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays, and early mornings/evenings aligned with the sailing season schedule.
- Customer Focus: Excellent communication skills with a member-first attitude.
- Physical Fitness: Capability to handle physical tasks outdoors in all weather conditions.

Desirable:

- Coxswain Grade 2 / 1 (NC) or higher marine qualification.
- Marine VHF Radio Operator License.
- Background in marine and general maintenance, trade skills (carpentry, painting, fiberglass, mechanical)
