Casual Facilities Team Leader-National Convention Centre Canberra

We are seeking a dedicated and hands-on Casual Facilities Team Leader to support the efficient day-to‐day operation of our facilities, kitchen, and events services. In this role, you will help maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and operational excellence while supporting a positive experience for both guests and team members.

Every day is different, but you'll mostly be:

/n

- Work flexibly in line with operational and business requirements

/n

- Assist with monthly inspections and facility audits

/n

- Identify and support cost-saving initiatives and effective resource management

/n/n

People

/n

/n

- Support chefs with food preparation and general kitchen duties as required

/n

- Assist with the receiving, storage, and organisation of goods and supplies

/n

- Demonstrate the safe and correct use of chemicals and provide guidance to other departments when needed

/n

- Foster positive working relationships across departments and contribute to a collaborative team environment

/n/n

Guest Experience

/n

/n

- Ensure all crockery, cutlery, kitchen equipment, and service items are cleaned and maintained in accordance with HACCP standards

/n

- Provide assistance to guests and internal customers when required

/n

- Support the setup and smooth operation of events and functions

/n/n

Responsible Business

/n

/n

- Partner with management to promote workplace health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives

/n





- Participate in workplace inspections and support investigations into incidents, injuries, and near misses

/n

- Recommend corrective actions to minimise future risks and improve safety outcomes

/n

- Promptly report workplace hazards and support the implementation of corrective measures

/n

- Wear, maintain, and correctly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required

/n

- Safely operate equipment, tools, materials, and substances in accordance with workplace procedures

/n

- Report workplace injuries, illnesses, hazards, and safety concerns to management

/n/n

What We Need From You

/n

/n

- Previous experience in facilities, stewarding, kitchen operations, hospitality, or a similar role is highly regarded

/n

- Sound knowledge of HACCP guidelines and food safety practices

/n

- Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements, including the correct use of PPE

/n

- Strong customer service and communication skills

/n

- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

/n

- A proactive approach with a strong focus on safety, cleanliness, and operational excellence

/n

- Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends,



and public holidays as required

/n
