About the position

Are you passionate about creating better outcomes for children, young people and families?

The City is looking for an experienced and motivated community services professional to join our Community Capacity Development team. This is an opportunity to play a key leadership role in shaping services, programs and partnerships that make a real difference in the community.

You’ll bring the ability to work confidently at both a strategic and operational level, while leading, coaching and supporting a dedicated and energetic team of professionals.

With a strong focus on community capacity development, you will work collaboratively with internal teams, community organisations,



service providers and government agencies to understand community needs, identify opportunities and develop innovative responses.

A key part of the role will be engaging directly with children, young people and families to understand their experiences and priorities, and then turning those insights into practical programs, services, partnerships and initiatives that deliver meaningful outcomes.

As a pivotal leadership role within the Community Capacity Development team, your ability to build strong relationships, communicate effectively and coach and empower others will be essential to your success.

What we are looking for

To be successful, you must be able to demonstrate:

- Extensive experience working with children, young people and/or families in a community setting, as well as with community groups and external stakeholders

- Proven ability to lead, mentor and support staff to deliver high-quality outcomes

- Experience with program planning, research and analysis, and identifying and securing grant opportunities

- A robust understanding of contemporary practices and emerging trends in child, youth and family development

- Demonstrated experience coordinating and delivering community-based services, programs and initiatives





- Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with community groups, service providers, schools, government agencies and other key partners

- Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results

Essential requirements

- Tertiary qualification in Youth Services, Children’s Services or a related social services field

- Working with Children Check

- Current Driver’s Licence

- Current Police Clearance (less than three months old) Please note: This is not essential to apply for the role but will be required at a later stage as it is an appointment condition
