Seniors Rights Victoria | Fixed Term to June 2028

Seniors Rights Victoria (SRV) is Victoria's leading specialist service responding to elder abuse. Operating within COTA Victoria, we provide legal services, advocacy, education and systemic reform to support older people to live safely, independently and with dignity.
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Community Lawyer to join our multidisciplinary team and help older Victorians protect their housing rights and respond to situations involving elder abuse.
About the Role
Reporting to the Managing Lawyer, you will provide legal advice, casework and representation to older people experiencing or at risk of elder abuse. You will work closely with our Advocacy Team to deliver integrated support that helps older people maintain secure housing and exercise their rights.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing legal advice, information and casework to clients
- Representing clients in matters relating to housing, property, guardianship, administration and powers of attorney
- Delivering community and professional education sessions across Victoria
- Supporting outreach activities, including regional Victoria travel
- Building partnerships with Community Legal Centres and key stakeholders
- Contributing to policy, systemic advocacy and law reform initiatives
- Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary practice model
About You
To be successful, you will have:
- Admission as an Australian Lawyer with an unrestricted Victorian practising certificate (or eligibility to obtain one)
- Minimum two years post-admission experience
- Experience in property law, trusts, wills and powers of attorney
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex legal concepts in plain language
- Experience delivering education, training or presentations
- A commitment to social justice and supporting vulnerable community members
- The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- A current Victorian Driver Licence
Experience in family violence, elder abuse or community legal practice will be highly regarded.

Employment Type: Part Time (0.8 EFT / 30.4 hours per week)
Contract: Fixed Term until 30 June 2028
Location: Melbourne CBD with some regional travel
Classification: SCHADS Award Level 5
