We're seeking an experienced and passionate Specialist Behaviour Support - Advanced/Specialist Practitioner - Registered Psychologist to join our Allied Health team. This is an exciting opportunity to combine advanced Positive Behaviour Support practice with psychological assessment and intervention while supporting people with disability, their families and support networks to enhance wellbeing, independence and quality of life.
As a senior clinician, you'll play a key role in supporting complex participants, providing supervision and mentoring to practitioners, and contributing to innovative specialist programs across the organisation.
About the Role
In this role, you will:
- Deliver high-quality Positive Behaviour Support services using evidence-based, trauma-informed, neuro-affirming and human rights-focused approaches.
- Conduct comprehensive functional behaviour assessments and develop person-centred behaviour support plans.
- Provide psychological assessments, including cognitive, personality, behavioural and risk assessments, and behavioural screening for presentations including ASD and ADHD.
- Deliver counselling, therapeutic interventions and skill-building supports that improve emotional wellbeing and independence.
- Partner with participants, families, carers and support teams to achieve meaningful and sustainable outcomes.
- Provide clinical supervision and mentoring to Core and Proficient PBS Practitioners.
- Contribute to specialist programs supporting complex cohorts, including young people in out-of-home care and other priority initiatives.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders across health, education, disability and community sectors.
What you will bring
You are a compassionate and experienced clinician who is committed to improving outcomes for people with disability while supporting the growth of others.
You will have:
- Extensive experience working with people with disability and complex support needs.
- Advanced knowledge and experience in Positive Behaviour Support and evidence-based psychological interventions.
- Experience conducting psychological assessment, intervention, review and evaluation of supports.
- Strong communication, advocacy and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience working across diverse sectors such as disability, mental health, child protection, family services, justice, healthcare or education.
- Demonstrated capability to provide supervision, mentoring and clinical leadership.
- A commitment to person-centred, strengths-based and human rights-focused practice.
- The ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Current registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current Working with Children Check.
- Current Australian Driver's Licence.
- Access to a reliable vehicle and willingness to travel as required.
- International Police Check and Disqualified Carer Check (where applicable). Desirable:
- Formal training in Autism assessment tools such as ADOS and/or MIGDAS.
