We're partnering with a well-established and growing commercial contractor specialising in Design & Construct (D&C;), commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects across Sydney. Due to continued growth and an exciting pipeline of secured and upcoming work, they are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Senior Estimator to join their team and play a key role in securing and delivering successful projects.

The Opportunity

Based in the Western Suburbs of Sydney, you will take ownership of the estimating and tendering process for a diverse range of commercial D&C;, fit-out and refurbishment projects valued between $500K and $15M.

Working closely with senior management, clients, consultants, project delivery teams, suppliers and subcontractors, you'll be responsible for developing accurate and competitive tenders from initial review through to submission and successful project handover.

This is a key role within the business, offering genuine autonomy, exposure to negotiated and competitive tenders, and the opportunity to influence project strategy, procurement and commercial outcomes.

You'll work across a diverse portfolio of workplace, commercial, retail, hospitality and refurbishment projects, with strong opportunities for career progression as the business continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates, quantity take-offs and tender submissions for D&C;, commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects.

Review architectural and consultant drawings, specifications and project documentation to establish project scope and pricing requirements.

Manage the estimating process from initial tender review through to submission.

Develop detailed scopes of work, trade packages and procurement strategies.

Obtain, analyse and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations.

Identify project risks, exclusions,



opportunities and potential cost exposures.

Develop project budgets and contribute to tender and commercial strategy.

Identify and implement value engineering opportunities to improve project outcomes and competitiveness.

Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers throughout the tender process.

Assist with negotiations and presentations during the tender and pre-construction stages.

Provide transparent and accurate tender handovers to the project delivery team.

Maintain strong relationships with key subcontractors, suppliers and industry partners.

Ensure tenders are accurate, commercially sound, compliant and submitted within required timeframes.

Contribute to the ongoing improvement of estimating systems, processes and commercial practices.

Support junior estimators and contribute to the broader estimating team's development where required.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

5+ years' experience in commercial construction estimating in Australia.

Strong experience pricing D&C;, commercial fit-out and/or refurbishment projects.

Experience estimating projects valued between $5M and $15M+.

A strong understanding of commercial construction methodologies, D&C; processes and interior construction.

The ability to confidently interpret architectural drawings, specifications and consultant documentation.

Strong subcontractor and supplier networks across the Sydney construction market.

Excellent commercial awareness, analytical ability and attention to detail.

Strong understanding of construction costs, procurement and subcontractor pricing.

Experience using EstimateOne or CostX and other estimating software.

The ability to manage multiple tenders, priorities and competing deadlines.

Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.

A proactive, commercially focused and solutions-oriented approach.

The Reward
