Our Client
Our client is an established and growing product-based business with a strong presence across Australia and a fast-paced, high-volume operating environment.
With a sizeable finance function and close interaction between finance, sales, customer service and operations, they are looking for an experienced Finance Officer to join the team and take ownership across both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who has built strong transactional accounting experience and enjoys being responsible for getting things resolved, maintaining clean ledgers and keeping the day-to-day finance function running smoothly.
The role is based on site five days per week and offers market leading salary (depending on experience).
The Role
Working as part of the broader finance team, you will have a varied role spanning Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, reconciliations, credit control and month-end support.
This isn't simply a high-volume processing position. You'll be expected to understand the accounts you are managing, investigate discrepancies, build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and proactively follow issues through to resolution.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities across the business
- Processing and reconciling supplier and customer accounts
- Managing debtor accounts and proactively following up outstanding payments
- Maintaining accurate and clean AP and AR ledgers
- Completing bank and payment reconciliations
- Investigating account discrepancies and resolving queries
- Managing customer credit limits, account maintenance and credit control activities
- Processing credits, claims and rebates where required
- Supporting new customer and supplier account setup and maintenance
- Working closely with sales,
customer service and operational teams to resolve account issues
- Assisting with banking and cashflow-related activities
- Supporting end-of-month reconciliations and finance processes
- Identifying opportunities to improve transactional finance processes
Why Should You Apply?
- Great salary on offer for an experienced Finance Officer
- Broad position covering both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
- Take genuine ownership of your accounts rather than simply processing transactions
- Work within an established finance team in a sizeable commercial business
- High-volume environment offering plenty of variety and stakeholder interaction
- Opportunity to use your experience across reconciliations, credit control and problem solving
The Successful Candidate
This role will suit an experienced Finance Officer who is confident working independently across transactional finance and enjoys operating in a busy commercial environment.
Ideally, you will bring:
- Strong experience across Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
- Approximately 5+ years' experience within transactional finance
- Experience within a product, wholesale, distribution, retail or similarly high-volume setting
- Strong account and bank reconciliation experience
- Confidence managing debtor accounts and credit control
- Experience investigating discrepancies and resolving complex account queries
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- A proactive approach, with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- SAP exposure would be advantageous, but is not essential
- Availability and willingness to work five days per week on site
