About the role
Mater is seeking an experienced passionate clinical educator/facilitator to join our Medical Education Unit. This role will be offered on a full time permanent basis, with the opportunity of part-time hours available.
The Medical Education Unit is located at South Brisbane and is responsible for delivering high quality medical education and support for Resident Medical Officers across Mater South Brisbane and Mater Springfield.

What you’ll be doing
The Medical Education Officer (MEO) role will work as part of the Medical Education Services team to develop, deliver and evaluate medical education to prevocational medical staff, to ensure ongoing training, governance and accreditation requirements are met.
Specifically, the focus of this role will be:
- Supporting the implementation of strategic and operational plans for Mater’s prevocational medical education, accreditation, assessment, and evaluation in line with specific governance and accreditation requirements
- Coordination and facilitation of orientation and onboarding programs for new prevocational and vocational medical staff to Mater in collaboration with other key stakeholders
- Facilitating Basic Life Support and Manual/Patient Handling requirements
- Coordination of contemporary, evidenced-based prevocational medical education programs,
involvement with clinical skills facilitation and evaluations occurring after each session
This role will report directly to the Director Medical Education and Workforce and will work collaboratively across the Medical Education Unit (MEU) as well as the broader Mater Education Team to provide a coordinated level of support to all medical staff at Mater.
About you
- Registered with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency - Nursing
- High level of interpersonal communication skills with ability to work independently and collaboratively across a broad range of professional levels and streams
- Previous work experience as a clinician (desirable)
- Strong patient centred care focus on all aspects of training and development
- High level knowledge and experience in simulation as a teaching methodology
- Strong understanding of interprofessional education, collaboration and care
