Design Manager – Renewables & Power Systems

Strategic Project Delivery are seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead the delivery of multi-disciplinary design across utility-scale renewable energy and power infrastructure projects. Working across solar, wind, BESS, substations and transmission, you will play a critical role in ensuring designs are technically robust, fully coordinated, and aligned with project delivery objectives.

Reporting to both the Project Manager and Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for driving design programmes, managing design teams across electrical, civil, structural and SCADA disciplines, and ensuring all deliverables meet the required standards, specifications and regulatory frameworks. You will lead design reviews, manage interfaces with clients, OEMs and network service providers, and ensure strong integration between design, construction and commissioning.





This role requires a balance of technical leadership and delivery focus. You will oversee design assurance processes, embed Safety in Design principles, manage design risks and changes, and ensure high-quality, constructible outcomes that support efficient project execution.

We are looking for a proven leader with extensive experience in renewable energy and/or substation and transmission design, strong stakeholder management skills, and a deep understanding of Australian standards and grid connection requirements. You will thrive in a rapid-paced EPC/EPCM environment and bring a proactive, solutions-focused approach to complex engineering challenges.
