Direct Reports

The Principal provides leadership and line management to all educational staff, including teachers,

education assistants, curriculum leaders and other school-based educational personnel.

Lyn Beazley Academy is an innovative independent secondary school for autistic young people in

Years 7–12.

Our educational model has been intentionally designed to recognise strengths, foster curiosity and

create authentic learning experiences that prepare students not only for further education or

employment, but for meaningful and fulfilling lives.

Through interdisciplinary STEAM learning, project-based inquiry, real-world partnerships and

evidence-informed practice, students are empowered to understand themselves, contribute to

their communities and shape their own futures.

As Principal, you will lead the educational vision of the Academy and inspire a community

committed to reimagining what education can be for autistic young people.

Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Board, the Principal is responsible for the educational leadership, strategic

direction and continual improvement of Lyn Beazley Academy.

The Principal provides leadership across teaching and learning, curriculum, educational innovation,

school improvement, staff capability, student wellbeing and educational compliance.

Working closely with the Board, the Principal ensures the Academy delivers outstanding

educational outcomes while remaining true to its mission, vision and values.

The Principal is responsible for fostering a culture where every learner and educator can belong,

connect and make an impact.

The Principal will:

Curriculum Leadership

• Lead the development and implementation of the Academy's curriculum across Years 7–12.

• Design cutting-edge interdisciplinary STEAM learning.

• Embed project-based and inquiry learning throughout the Academy.

• Ensure learning is authentic, relevant and connected to real-world contexts.

• Develop individualised learning pathways.

• Lead assessment and reporting practices.

• Ensure curriculum aligns with the Australian Curriculum, registration requirements and the

Academy's educational philosophy.

Research and Educational Innovation

• Lead educational innovation across the Academy.

• Strengthen the Academy's partnership with the CoRE Learning Foundation.

• Build relationships with universities, industry and research organisations.

• Support educational research initiatives.

• Translate research into classroom practice.

• Evaluate innovation through evidence and data.

• Share the Academy's work across the education sector.

Community Leadership

• Build trusted relationships with families.

• Develop strategic partnerships that enrich learning.

• Represent the Academy professionally within the broader community.

• Promote the Academy's educational philosophy and impact.

• Create opportunities for students to engage beyond the classroom.

IMPACT

Lead educational excellence that transforms futures.

The Principal will:

Strategic Leadership

• Develop and implement the Academy's educational strategy.

• Lead annual school improvement planning.

• Monitor educational performance and outcomes.

• Identify opportunities for innovation and growth.

• Provide strategic advice to the Board.

• Position the Academy as a recognised leader in innovative education.

Governance and Compliance

• Implement Board policies and strategic decisions.

• Ensure compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements applicable to an

independent school.

• Maintain registration requirements and educational standards.

• Ensure Child Safe Standards are embedded throughout the Academy.

• Lead the development and review of educational policies and procedures.

• Report significant educational matters to the Board.

• Ensure timely reporting of critical incidents in accordance with legislative requirements.

• Promote effective risk management and continuous quality improvement.

• Leading innovation in curriculum and pedagogy.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

• Current Teacher Registration (Western Australia).

• Demonstrated success in educational leadership.

• Experience working with autistic young people.

• Proven experience leading curriculum development and school improvement.

• Strong understanding of contemporary pedagogy and inclusive education.

• Leadership within an innovative or independent school.

• Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.

• Strong knowledge of independent school registration and compliance requirements.

• Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills.

• Demonstrated strategic leadership capability.

Desirable Experience

• Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning.

• Experience in project-based and inquiry learning.

• Experience collaborating with universities or research organisations.

• Postgraduate qualifications in Education, Leadership or a related discipline.
