Your next opportunity

Following a comprehensive service review, Council is implementing Phase 2 of the Infrastructure & Assets transformation, focused on strengthening middle management, clarifying accountabilities, improving coordination and ensuring our services are sustainable, well-governed and future-ready.

As part of this transformation we are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Traffic & Road Safety Officer to help create safer roads and stronger communities across our region. Working within the Infrastructure & Assets team, you will lead Council's traffic management and road safety functions, providing expert advice on traffic and transport matters while delivering initiatives that improve road safety outcomes for residents and visitors.

This is a diverse role that combines technical traffic and transport responsibilities with community engagement, education and behavioural change programs. You will work closely with Transport for NSW, NSW Police, schools, community groups and local stakeholders to identify issues, develop practical solutions and promote safer road use across the Shire.

We're looking for someone with experience in traffic engineering, transport planning,



road safety or a related field who enjoys building relationships, analysing data and delivering meaningful outcomes for the community. Strong communication skills, sound judgement and a commitment to continuous improvement will be key to your success.

Essential selection criteria include (full criteria in the Position Description below):

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Civil/Traffic Engineering, Transport Planning, Road Safety, Behavioural Sciences, Education, Health Promotion, Marketing, Communications, Science or a related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent relevant experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in traffic engineering, road safety principles, standards and legislation, including traffic or transport investigations, data analysis and the preparation of technical reports.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, delivering and evaluating behavioural road safety education, behavioural change, community awareness and engagement programs.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports for Council and committees, negotiate effectively, deliver presentations and engage with people from a diverse range of backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with Transport for NSW, NSW Police, schools, government agencies, community groups, local businesses and other stakeholders to identify and address local road safety issues.

This position is placed at Grade 9 of Council's salary system and is a full-time, permanent position.



The salary offered is in the range of $87,344 to $98,250 per annum plus 12% Superannuation.

This role works a 19-day month with 1 rostered day off (RDO) every 4 weeks.
