The Role
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join a high-performing in-house legal team, based in Sydney.
In this front-end focused role, you will provide strategic legal support across a broad range of major construction and infrastructure projects from procurement and project structuring through to delivery and ongoing operations. Working closely with executive leadership, project directors, commercial teams and external stakeholders, you will be a trusted advisor on complex development, construction and commercial matters.
Your day-to-day will include:
Drafting, reviewing and negotiating major project, construction and commercial agreements (including EPC, D&C;, PPP and consultancy contracts)
Advising on procurement strategies, tender processes and bid documentation
Providing commercially focused legal advice across major projects, infrastructure and development matters
Supporting contract management, risk allocation and project structuring
Assisting with dispute avoidance, claims management and resolution strategies
Partnering with internal stakeholders to deliver successful project and commercial outcomes
Managing external legal advisers and supporting key project negotiations
The Candidate
You will be a construction, projects or infrastructure lawyer with approximately 8+ years' PQE, gained within a reputable law firm or a leading in-house environment.
You will also bring:
Solid experience advising on front-end construction, infrastructure and major projects matters
Deep understanding of construction contracting models, procurement frameworks and risk allocation principles
Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure, energy, transport or property development projects
Solid commercial acumen and the ability to influence senior stakeholders
Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship management skills
A proactive, pragmatic and solutions-focused mindset
The ability to operate effectively in a quick-paced and complex project setting
