A prominent Federal Government Department is seeking an experienced IBM Mainframe Developer (Associate Developer) to join their ICT Division. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the development and sustainment of large-scale enterprise systems supporting critical national services. The successful IBM Mainframe Developer will work across key initiatives supporting business-critical platforms, enhancing system performance, reliability, and operational capability. The IBM Mainframe Developer will be offered an initial 12-month contract with 2 x 12-month extension options and will be based onsite in Canberra.

The successful IBM Mainframe Developer will be responsible for, but not limited to:
Develop, test and maintain high-quality COBOL-based applications across the full software development lifecycle.




Integrate software components into fully functional enterprise systems and support deployment activities.
Troubleshoot, debug and resolve complex technical issues within secure mainframe environments.
Collaborate with project managers, business analysts and ICT teams to deliver high-quality, fit-for-purpose solutions.

To be successful, the IBM Mainframe Developer will demonstrate:
Solid expertise in COBOL, CICS, JCL, VSAM, DB2 and mainframe operating systems such as z/OS or z/VSE.
Proven experience in mainframe application development, unit testing and systems integration.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving and technical documentation skills.
