About The Role
RFQ prospect
12 months contract
On-site, Canberra
TheSystem Software Administrationpositions will be responsible for deploying, securing, automating, and maintaining complex enterprise Linux infrastructure.
Proficient in scripting, system monitoring, virtualization, cloud technologies, and troubleshooting complex technical issues to ensure high availability and operational efficiency across various ICT platforms and environments.
You will guide other, delegate tasks when appropriate, work autonomously under general direction, and contribute expertise to deliver team objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Administer Linux servers (RHEL, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu, SUSE, etc.)
Manage user accounts, permissions, and authentication services
Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity for optimum availability and performance while ensuring security requirements
Deploy security patches and system updates
Configure networking, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewalls
Manage storage solutions, backups, and disaster recovery processes
Automate routine tasks using Bash, Python, or Ansible
Support virtualization and container platforms (VMware, KVM, Docker, Kubernetes)
Troubleshoot operating system, application, and hardware issues




Maintain comprehensive system documentation and compliance requirements
Provide reports and proposals for improvements to stakeholders.
Contribute to the planning and implement agreed organisation changes and maintenance routines.
Secondary Responsibilities
All Above-the-Line contractors may be tasked with assisting other Client functional areas where the member's skills and knowledge are relevant.
Qualifications
Bachelor Degree or higher in IT (Major or Minor) with 3-5 year experience in the last 10 years are recommended
Experience in Linux administration and shell scripting
Experience in system, package management, and kernel fundamentals
Experience in networking (TCP/IP, routing, DNS, SSH)
Experience in security hardening and access control
Experience in automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
Experience in Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud)
Experience in Linux Identity/ Policy/ Authorisation (IPA) and Active Directory and is preferred
Experience with Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI) is preferred
A minimum ofNV2 clearance
