About the role/company:
Our client is Australia's leading distributor of advanced life science research technologies.
They are seeking a Field Applications Specialist to support customers throughout NSW and broader ANZ regions.
This customer-facing scientific role combines technical expertise, training, relationship management, and problem solving.
You will work closely with researchers to ensure successful implementation and adoption of their technologies, providing experimental design guidance, workflow support, training, troubleshooting, and data analysis assistance.
This position is ideal for a scientist passionate about genomics who enjoys working directly with customers and bridging the gap between cutting-edge technology and scientific discovery.
Responsibilities include:
Acting as the primary technical liaison between customers and the company
Delivering customer onboarding, training programs, demonstrations, and workflow support
Supporting researchers with experimental design and best-practice implementation of 10x Genomics platforms
Troubleshooting assay, instrument, software, workflow, and data analysis issues




Collaborating with customers to optimise research outcomes and drive successful project completion
Maintaining and developing long-term relationships with key research stakeholders
Communicating customer feedback, application opportunities, and market insights to internal teams
Supporting sales activities through scientific consultations, seminars, trade shows, and conferences
Contributing to technical documentation, training materials, and scientific resources
Escalating technical issues appropriately and coordinating resolutions with internal support teams
Maintaining accurate records and providing regular feedback to management
Skills & Experience
Tertiary qualifications in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or a related field
Strong background in molecular biology and genomics workflows
Experience with Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies and associated data analysis tools
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities
Outstanding communication, presentation, and training skills
Strong customer service focus and ability to build trusted relationships
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team
Highly organised with strong documentation and reporting skills
Previous customer-facing experience is highly regarded
Experience with single-cell genomics technologies is highly desirable
Familiarity with SFDC/CRM systems is advantageous
Cell culture and hands-on molecular biology laboratory experience preferred
Willingness to travel extensively
