Our Melbourne operation is scaling rapidly across key growth corridors in the city's south‐east, and we are looking for an experienced Vehicle Inspector to own the territory and help us source quality cars directly from customers.
The Role
As a Vehicle Inspector at Cars24, you are the face of our customer‐sourcing operation on the ground.
You will travel across Melbourne's south‐east, attending pre‐booked appointments to inspect, assess and value customer vehicles on behalf of Cars24.
This is a field‐based, autonomous role with a clear performance incentive tied to your output.
You will be based around Dandenong and cover a high‐volume territory spanning Dandenong-Frankston, Pakenham, Mornington and Bayside.
Our team provides you with a pre‐booked lead pipeline, so there is no cold outreach — your focus is entirely on quality inspections and a great customer experience.
What You'll Be Doing
Attend pre‐booked vehicle inspection appointments across your designated Sydney territory
Conduct thorough mechanical and cosmetic assessments, identifying faults, defects and relevant vehicle history
Communicate your findings clearly and professionally to customers during and after the inspection
Negotiate vehicle purchase prices confidently and effectively within approved parameters
Complete accurate inspection reports and records via our mobile tools (iPhone/iPad)




Manage your own daily schedule to maximise the number of quality inspections completed
Work closely with our operations, C2B and logistics teams to ensure smooth vehicle acquisition and handover
Maintain a high standard of customer experience at every touchpoint, representing the Cars24 brand in the field
What We're Looking For
Solid hands‐on experience as a Vehicle Inspector, Automotive Technician, Mechanic, or in a similar vehicle assessment role, ideally with a recognised automotive business
Strong ability to read a vehicle quickly and accurately, spotting mechanical and cosmetic issues with confidence
Genuine customer‐facing skills: warm, professional and able to communicate technical findings clearly to everyday buyers and sellers
Confidence to negotiate purchase prices respectfully and effectively
Highly organised and self‐directed, able to manage a full day of field appointments independently and keep everything on track
Comfortable with mobile technology: iPhones, iPads, and basic spreadsheet tools (Excel or Google Sheets)
A valid Australian driver's licence and the ability to drive both manual and automatic vehicles
Full Australian working rights
Willingness to undergo a police check (a condition of employment at Cars24)
$70,000-$75,000 base salary + performance incentive of up to $3,000-$5,000 per month
