LTD. is a Melbourne-based civil construction company specialising in drainage and civil engineering groundworks.
Due to continued business growth and the award of several current projects, we are seeking an experiencedCivil Drainerto join our team on a full-time basis.
You will be required to work 38 hours per week.
The successful applicant will be responsible for constructing, installing, replacing, repairing, altering, maintaining, testing and commissioning subsoil drainage systems, stormwater pits, grated channels, below-ground storage and retention tanks, and other drainage infrastructure to effectively manage surface water and stormwater in urban and rural environments.
Qualifications and Experience Applicants must have one of the following: AQF Certificate III qualification (or equivalent) including at least two years of on-the-job training; or AQF Certificate IV qualification (ANZSCO Skill Level 3) with at least one year of relevant post-qualification experience; or At least three years of relevant, full-time experience as a Civil Drainer.
Key Responsibilities Read and interpret engineering drawings, plans and specifications.
Determine pipe sizes, grades and alignments in accordance with project requirements.
Conduct site inspections and assess existing drainage systems before installation.
Set out drainage works using survey information, levels and pipe laser equipment.
Install subsoil drainage systems for groundwater collection and control.
Construct, install, replace, repair, alter, maintain, test and commission land drainage infrastructure.
Install stormwater pipelines, culverts, channels, headwalls and associated drainage structures.
Lay drainage pipework to specified grades and alignments.
Construct stormwater pits,
junction pits, inspection pits, manholes, thrust blocks and other land drainage structures.
Install below-ground storage, detention and retention tanks for stormwater management.
Excavate trenches and prepare foundations for drainage infrastructure.
Monitor and assist plant operators during excavation and pipe installation activities.
Backfill, compact and reinstate trenches in accordance with project specifications.
Deepen and reshape drainage channels and construct surface water carrier pipelines.
Carry out maintenance, repair and replacement of existing underground drainage systems.
Test completed drainage systems for alignment, grade, watertightness and operational performance.
Locate and protect existing underground utilities before commencing excavation works.
Measure, calculate and confirm levels, grades and invert heights to ensure compliance with engineering specifications.
Install pipe bedding, supports and surrounds using approved materials and methods.
Perform confined space work and trench work in accordance with workplace safety requirements where authorised.
Operate and maintain hand tools, compactors, pumps, laser levels and other drainage installation equipment.
Assist with concrete placement and finishing for drainage structures and associated civil works.
Ensure all drainage works comply with Australian Standards, engineering specifications and local authority requirements.
Identify defects in drainage systems and recommend appropriate repair or replacement solutions.
Maintain accurate records of completed works, inspections and testing.
Coordinate with supervisors, engineers and other trades to ensure projects are completed efficiently and on schedule.
Follow workplace health and safety procedures and promote safe work practices on all sites.
