The ZERO Senior Scientist, is a critical scientific and operational leadership role responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, clinically accredited diagnostic services for the ZERO Childhood Cancer Program.
This position provides strategic and hands-on leadership for diagnostic laboratory operations, quality management system (QMS) implementation, and the comprehensive validation of diagnostic testing and clinical reporting workflows to ISO *****:**** and NATA accreditation standards.
To succeed you will have...
PhD in molecular biology, genomics, cancer biology, orbachelor'sdegree plus 10+ years in clinical molecular diagnosticsMinimum 5 years post-doctoral or senior scientist experience in clinical molecular diagnostics or precision medicine
Demonstrated experience leading NATA accredited (or equivalent) diagnostic laboratory operations including workflow management, resource allocation, and staff coordination
Experience supervising and mentoring technical and scientific staff
Extensive hands-on expertise in molecular diagnostic methods including NGS, nucleic acid extraction,



library preparation, and quality control
Proven experience developing, validating, and verifying diagnostic assays in compliance with ISO *****, NPAAC, or equivalent clinical laboratory standards
Experience implementing quality management systems and preparing for accreditation assessments
Experience with equipment qualification, calibration, and laboratory safety management
Strong organisational and project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities
Proven track record of scientific contribution through peer-reviewed publications
