This leadership role is responsible for overseeing development assessment processes, ensuring compliance with relevant planning legislation, coordinating planning staff, and providing high-level advice to management, applicants, stakeholders and elected representatives.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering timely, consistent and customer-focused planning outcomes that support the council's growth and strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate the Development Assessment team to ensure efficient, consistent and timely processing of development applications.
Manage the assessment of complex residential, commercial, industrial, rural and subdivision development applications in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and statutory timeframes.
Provide expert advice on the interpretation and application of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, Local Environmental Plans (LEPs), Development Control Plans (DCPs), State Environmental Planning Policies (SEPPs) and other relevant planning instruments.

Key Requirements
Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning, Urban and Regional Planning, or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience in development assessment within a local government setting.
Strong knowledge of the NSW Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, Local Environmental Plans (LEPs), Development Control Plans (DCPs), and relevant State planning policies.
