About the Organisation Our client is a large Queensland Government organisation undergoing significant change within its finance function. As part of a broader transformation program, they are investing in stronger governance, up-to-date budgeting practices and improved financial capability across the business.

This is an prospect to step into a key leadership position where you'll have the autonomy to improve systems, develop people and influence how budgeting is delivered across the organisation. While initially offered as a six-month contract, there is strong potential for extension for the right person.

About the Role Reporting to a senior finance leader, you will lead a team of four finance specialists while driving improvements across the department's budgeting function. This role is focused on strengthening governance, modernising budget processes and building stronger relationships between finance and the wider business.

Key responsibilities include

Lead and develop the budgeting team, providing clear direction, mentoring and support to build capability.




Review and improve existing budget models, forecasting processes and financial governance.
Partner closely with stakeholders across the organisation to improve financial literacy and support better decision-making.
Drive change by implementing more contemporary budgeting practices, improving processes and establishing clear timelines and accountability.

Ensure strong governance over budget adjustments and reporting while preparing the organisation for future budget cycles.
