Your next career opportunity
You will lead advanced solution-phase NMR capabilities that support innovative research across chemistry, biology and medicine.
You will provide expert technical guidance, train researchers, develop advanced NMR methods and contribute to the strategic growth of the Melbourne Magnetic Resonance (MMR) Platform.
The successful candidate will be appointed at Level B or Level C depending on experience, research track record and demonstrated contribution to platform capability development.
What you will deliver:
Provide expert training, induction and user support in solution-phase NMR techniques, workflows and instrumentation.
Oversee day-to-day operation,optimisationand lifecycle management of advanced NMR instruments across the MMR platform.
Develop and implement new NMR methods, technologies and processes that expand platform capabilities and research impact.
Collaborate with researchers and partners on experimental design, dataanalysisand publications, supporting high-quality multidisciplinary research.
Contribute to grant applications, reporting,governanceand safety, ensuring sustainable,compliantand strategically aligned platform operations.
You may be a great fitif:
Hold a PhD in Chemistry, Engineering, Biophysical Sciences, Biochemistry, Physics or a related discipline,
or equivalent experience aligned with NMR research and research infrastructure.
Demonstrate advanced expertise in solution-phase NMR techniques, including multidimensional, multinuclear and heteronuclear experiments, pulse-sequence programming, complex signal processing and NMR data analysis.
Manage NMR instrumentation confidently, including calibration, cryogen handling, troubleshooting, maintenance and supporting multidisciplinary user communities.
Deliver collaborative research outcomes, with a record of publications and contributions to competitive grants or infrastructure funding.
Develop and optimise advanced NMR methods, workflows or pulse sequences that extend capabilities and uplift user skills.
Apply sound safety, organisational and time-management practices to coordinate complex operations and changing research priorities.

The Melbourne Magnetic Resonance (MMR) Platform brings together advanced instrumentation and specialist expertise to support magnetic resonance-based research across the University and with external partners.
Based across the Bio21 Institute and the School of Chemistry, the platform supports a diverse research community spanning Science, Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, Engineering, industry and precinct partners.
You will work alongside researchers and technical specialists to deliver expert support, develop advanced NMR capabilities and contribute to the continued growth and impact of this nationally significant research infrastructure platform.
