Job Description
FREAK STREET PTY LTD The Retail Store Manager will have primary responsibility for the efficient and profitable operation of the Rockdale retail establishment.
The position will manage store sales, staff, stock, pricing, customer-service standards, financial controls and online retail coordination.
The manager will also provide commercial feedback to the purchasing and design function regarding customer demand, product performance and future stock requirements.

Full-time permanent position with responsibility for an established specialist retail store.

Work with culturally significant products sourced from specialist artisan suppliers in Nepal and India.
Task & responsibilities Plan, organise and control the daily operations of the Rockdale retail store, including opening and closing procedures, cash controls, store presentation and end-of-day reporting.
Establish and maintain appropriate product ranges, stock levels and customer-service standards for the Rockdale store based on sales trends, seasonal demand and customer requirements.
Monitor product performance and recommend changes to product mix, purchasing quantities, stock allocation and replenishment schedules.
Coordinate the ordering, receiving, checking, recording, storage and presentation of garments, jewellery, accessories and cultural homewares supplied from Nepal and India.
Set and administer retail prices, promotional discounts and markdowns within approved company budgets and pricing policies.
Coordinate pricing, product information, promotions, stock availability and fulfilment standards across the physical store and Shopify online channel.
Prepare and manage the Rockdale store's operating budget, including projected revenue, staffing expenditure, stock-related costs and other store expenses.
Monitor sales, gross margins, operating expenses, stock turnover and store profitability and provide periodic performance reports to senior management.




Maintain accurate records of sales, stock levels, cash transactions, refunds, discounts, expenses and inventory movements.
Develop and implement local sales and promotional activities in coordination with the Marketing and Brand Management team.
Manage the Rockdale store's Shopify operations, including product listings, promotional pricing, inventory coordination, customer enquiries and online order fulfilment.
Recruit, induct, roster, train, supervise and evaluate retail staff assigned to the Rockdale store in accordance with company policies.
Allocate daily duties, monitor staff performance and provide operational direction to the Retail Sales Assistant and any casual or seasonal retail employees.
Ensure staff deliver consistent and knowledgeable customer service, including culturally appropriate advice regarding South Asian garments, accessories and ceremonial requirements.
Manage complex customer enquiries, complaints, exchanges, refunds and loyalty-program matters in accordance with company policy and Australian Consumer Law.
Develop and maintain store procedures covering customer service, cash handling, inventory control, loss prevention, online fulfilment and garment-alteration coordination.
Ensure the store complies with applicable work health and safety requirements, employment obligations, retail procedures and company policies.
Maintain a safe, organised and commercially presentable retail environment and arrange corrective action where operational or safety issues arise.
Build and maintain productive relationships with suppliers, service providers and internal purchasing, design and marketing personnel.
Coordinate customer fitting and garment-alteration services, including appointment scheduling, work allocation, completion timeframes and quality-control standards.




Personally assist customers with sales and styling consultations when required, particularly during peak trading periods and culturally significant events.
Qualification & experience A Diploma or higher qualification in retail management, business management or a closely related field is preferred.
At least two years of relevant experience managing the operations of a retail store, preferably within fashion, apparel or specialist cultural retail.
Demonstrated experience controlling stock levels, retail pricing, store budgets, sales performance and financial records.
Demonstrated experience recruiting, rostering, training and supervising retail employees.
Knowledge of retail operations, customer-service standards, stock control, cash handling, loss prevention and work health and safety procedures.
Strong understanding of South Asian ethnic fashion, including traditional Nepalese garments and Indian occasion wear is highly desirable.
Knowledge of garments and accessories used for South Asian weddings is desirable.
Knowledge of relevant fabrics, embroidery, garment construction, fitting and alteration requirements.
Strong written and spoken English.
Nepali and/or Hindi language skills are highly desirable due to the business's products, suppliers and customer community.
Strong leadership, commercial decision-making, organisational and interpersonal skills.
