About NIHRACS
The Norfolk Island Health and Residential Aged Care Service (NIHRACS) is a small, remote, multi-purpose service delivering primary health care, emergency and inpatient care, residential aged care, and allied health services. About the Role
NIHRACS is seeking an experienced and motivated Allied Health Coordinator to lead our multidisciplinary allied health team. This position plays a pivotal role in coordinating and overseeing allied health services across the organisation and within the community, ensuring person-centred, evidence-based, and high-quality care. The role also involves workforce development, professional practice oversight, service planning, and interagency collaboration. The successful candidate may maintain a small clinical load aligned to their profession, supporting the integration of clinical expertise with management and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate the Allied Health team to deliver integrated, high-quality, and patient-centred care
Oversee governance, professional practice, and performance management across allied health disciplines
Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of service quality, safety,
and improvement initiatives
Build and maintain partnerships with local, interstate, and visiting health service providers to strengthen continuity of care
Participate in workforce planning, reporting, and allied health service development in collaboration with management
Foster a positive team culture focused on communication, collaboration, and professional growth.
Mandatory Requirements
Health Professional qualification and current registration/membership with the relevant Australian Board or Association (e.g. Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Pharmacist etc.)
Demonstrated experience in managing or leading multidisciplinary allied health teams
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
Proven ability to deliver safe, high-quality, and person-centred services
Demonstrated experience leading allied health services in a rural, remote, or multipurpose health setting
Proven ability to lead quality improvement, accreditation, and governance activities
Experience in building strong partnerships with community and external health agencies
Demonstrated leadership in team development, mentoring, and workforce sustainability
Experience adapting care approaches for culturally diverse populations
Vaccinations in accordance with Class A requirements
Employment screening check (National Criminal Record Check and Banning orders)
