Disability Support Worker- Supported Independent Living

About the role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicatedDisability Support Worker - Supported Independent Livingto join the Brighter Access team in Tamworth NSW.
This is apart-time positionthat offers flexibility whilst making a meaningful impact in the community.
In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with disabilities in their own homes or community settings, helping them to maintain independence, develop life skills, and participate actively in their local communities.
You will be instrumental in enabling our clients to achieve their personal goals and live fulfilling lives according to their own choices and preferences.
Key responsibilities
Provide personalised support to clients in their homes and community environments, assisting with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and household management
Support clients to develop and maintain life skills, including budgeting, social skills, and community participation
Assist clients in accessing community services, attending appointments, and engaging in social and recreational activities
Maintain accurate and timely records of support provided, documenting client progress and any concerns that arise
Communicate effectively with clients, their families, carers, and the wider Brighter Access team to ensure coordinated, person-centred support
Promote clients' independence, dignity,
and rights whilst providing practical support with identified needs
Respond compassionately to client concerns and seek guidance from supervisors when required
Maintain a safe and respectful environment, adhering to health and safety protocols and duty of care obligations
Contribute to a positive, inclusive workplace culture that values respect, collaboration, and continuous improvement
What we're looking for
A genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities and a commitment to person-centred care
Proven experience in disability support, aged care, community services, or a related field
Current First Aid
A valid Australian driving licence and access to reliable transport, as you may be required to support clients in community settings
Strong communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds
Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work flexibly within scheduled part-time hours
Physical capability to assist clients with mobility and manual tasks safely and appropriately
Valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) and NDIS worker screening check
Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect client privacy, and adhere to relevant legislative requirements including the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework
Commitment to professional development and a willingness to undertake training relevant to disability support
