Security Operations - Technical Delivery Lead
This role leads the end‐to‐end delivery of managed security services for a major utilities client. You will oversee operational governance, technical service quality, incident response, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement across a complex, regulated setting.
The position requires a blend of hands‐on security expertise, strong service delivery capability, and the ability to communicate clearly with operational, technical, and senior business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Service Delivery & Governance
Lead the governance of all cyber security operations services, ensuring the client maintains a strong and compliant security posture.
Run structured service reviews, including weekly operational check‐ins, monthly performance reviews, and quarterly strategic sessions.
Own service performance obligations, including SLAs, KPIs, OLAs and quality assurance across onshore and offshore teams.
Monitor contractual scope, manage demand, and work with account teams to identify out‐of‐scope items and commercial impacts.
Ensure all procedures, runbooks, and security operating processes are current, effective, and aligned with utilities regulatory requirements.
Security Operations Oversight
Ensure the Cyber Security Operations team manages day‐to‐day security platform maintenance, monitoring, detection, analysis and response.
Oversee threat detection, incident response, containment, and recovery activities, ensuring timely and appropriate action.
Validate and triage threat indicators with internal and external teams, ensuring the severity, impact and business context are correctly assessed.
Drive continuous improvement across SIEM, EDR, NDR, logging, detection logic,
playbooks, and automation.
Incident Management & Crisis Leadership
Act as an escalation point and, when required, the Incident Commander for major cyber security incidents.
Coordinate cross‐functional response with Technology, OT teams, Legal, Communications and Executive stakeholders.
Lead post‐incident reviews, ensuring root cause analysis, lessons learned, and uplift activities are completed and tracked.
Stakeholder & Client Engagement
Build strong relationships with client executives, operational leaders, and technical teams.
Communicate risks, incidents, service performance and operational priorities in clear, non‐technical language.
Act as a trusted adviser, providing strategic guidance on security uplift, platform modernisation and threat landscape changes.
Strategy, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
Support the client's cyber security roadmap, including alignment to Essential Eight, NIST CSF, ISO *****, and SOCI Act obligations.
Identify areas for operational uplift, automation opportunities, and technology enhancements.
Oversee maturity assessments, capability reviews and long‐term improvement plans.
Leadership & Team Development
Lead, support and mentor both onshore and offshore team members.
Foster a high‐performance culture with clear responsibilities, measurable outcomes, and strong collaboration.
Support workforce planning, skills development, and ongoing capability uplift.
Reporting & Metrics
Produce accurate and meaningful reporting across service performance, detection effectiveness, incident trends, and risk posture.
Provide executive dashboards tailored for utilities sector stakeholders, including OT, IT, and regulatory interfaces.
Mandatory Requirements:
Technical Expertise (Leading Teams in These Domains)
The role manages security engineers and analysts who work across the following technologies. Candidates should have solid understanding of these domains, gained through previous security operations or infrastructure security leadership roles:
Secure Web Gateways / Proxies: Prisma (preferred), Zscaler.
Strong knowledge of SIEM operations, logging standards, and detection content.
Experience
Proven experience leading managed security services across hybrid onshore/offshore delivery models.
Previous experience delivering services in the utilities sector or other critical infrastructure environments.
